Elden Ring Build Planning Guide

A beginner-friendly Elden Ring build planning framework for balancing requirements, damage, survivability, utility and upgrade priorities.

Start with the playstyle, not the stat screen

A build is easier to plan when you first decide how you want to fight: close-range pressure, heavy weapons, fast weapons, ranged options, spell-focused play or a hybrid.

Meet requirements before chasing extra damage

First make sure your chosen equipment and abilities are usable. After that, extra investment should have a clear purpose rather than being spread across many unrelated attributes.

Budget for survivability

Damage does not help if every mistake ends the attempt. Leave enough room in the build for health, stamina and equipment needs appropriate to your playstyle.

Upgrade the things you actually use

A focused setup is usually easier to maintain than constantly switching between many partially upgraded options. Keep a main plan and a backup option for situations your primary setup handles poorly.

Add utility last

Utility is valuable when it solves a known weakness. Add range, status options, defensive tools or support only when you understand what problem they are fixing.
